Unifrutti Group acquires Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru

PERU – Unifrutti Group, a Chile-based producer and distributor of fresh fruit, has completed the acquisition of 100% of Bomarea and the Peruvian operations of AvoAmerica (AvoAmerica Peru).

Previously owned by US investors Solum Partners (a private equity fund) and Alpine Fresh (a fresh fruit and vegetable producer and distributor) this move enhances Unifrutti’s presence in Peru further enhancing its multi-fruit portfolio with premium blueberries and avocados.

Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru, with a combined area of nearly 2,000 hectares, are recognized as leading producers of premium blueberries and avocados in Peru.

This acquisition, thus, positions Unifrutti to cater to the surging global demand for these superfruits, particularly in vital markets such as the US and China.

Mohamed Elsarky, CEO of Unifrutti Group, expressed the strategic significance of this acquisition, stating, “The incorporation of Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru into Unifrutti not only broadens our product range but also enhances our customer service excellence.”

“With blueberries and avocados being among the most desired and rapidly expanding superfruits, the addition of these companies to our portfolio perfectly aligns with our pledge to grow and supply superior-quality fruits to our customers worldwide.”

This move follows Unifrutti’s January 2024 acquisition of Verfrut, a major fruit producer and exporter in Chile and Peru.

Together, these acquisitions mark the initial phase of Unifrutti’s ambitious plans to establish itself as a leading sustainable multi-fruit company on a global scale.

The transaction is currently awaiting the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

Founded in 1948, Unifrutti Group is a key player in the global fresh fruit market, maintaining vertical integration in production, marketing, and distribution.

With over 14,000 hectares of land across Chile, Italy, the Philippines, and South Africa, the Group oversees the entire value chain, serving more than 50 countries throughout the year.

Unifrutti now employs over 11,000 people and is part of ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company.
