SOUTH AFRICA – Entering 2024, Sundays River Citrus Company (SRCC) is proudly embarking on its 100th-anniversary celebration, commemorating a century of unwavering commitment to quality, enduring relationships, and forward-thinking vision.
Since its establishment in 1924, SRCC has evolved into excellence in the citrus industry, driven by core values that resonate across generations.
“For 100 years, SRCC has been committed to giving attention to the quality of our services, shown the ability to forge long-standing relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers based on honesty, transparency, respect, a close bond with the community and, finally, a gaze always cast towards the future,” highlights SRCC in their recent LinkedIn post.
In celebration of this significant milestone, SRCC takes a moment to reflect on the technological advancements that have defined its approach to citrus packing, marketing, and exporting over the past century.
From the establishment of the first packhouse in 1926 to the construction of state-of-the-art facilities in recent years, SRCC has consistently embraced innovation.
SRCC’s journey includes strategic investments in Venco Fruit Processors (Pty) Ltd in 2014 and the acquisition of the Addo Cold Storage facility, now known as SRCC Cold Storage (Pty) Ltd, in 2015.
The completion of the Ingqweba Packhouse in 2016 marked another milestone, showcasing SRCC’s commitment to providing comprehensive services to producers and customers.
As part of its continuous efforts to stay ahead of the industry, SRCC has invested in cutting-edge technology, upgrading capacities, optical sorting technologies, and establishing new degreening plants.
The recent conversion of older lines, exemplified by the groundbreaking Line 3 at Hermitage, sets a new standard in defect sorting, ergonomics, and value extraction.
In the words of SRCC, “Life is measured by the occasions when ideas take off and lead to achievements beyond expectations.”
“SRCC is committed to continuing investing in technology, as it has been this innovation mindset that has made the century-long successful partnership between SRCC, its producers, customers, and staff.”
Furthermore, the fruit company acknowledges the invaluable contributions of generations of employees who, through commitment and hard work, have laid the foundation for the company’s success over the last century.
Reflecting on this journey, SRCC expresses gratitude for the dedication that has propelled the company forward.
As it steps into its centennial year, the focus remains on growth and improvement while upholding the original values that have guided the company through a dynamic and ever-changing landscape.
“To grow and improve from generation to generation following our original values, adapting to a constantly changing world. This is the vision that has guided us for 100 years,” states SRCC.
The company remains dedicated to adding many more chapters to its story, reinforcing its position as an industry leader.
As SRCC celebrates its 100th anniversary, it stands poised at the threshold of a new era, embodying a century of excellence, and embracing the promise of continued growth and innovation in the years to come.
