MOROCCO – Alonso Group, a prominent Spanish logistics company, has extended its operations into Morocco with the establishment of Alonso Forwarding Morocco in Casablanca in a strategic move aimed at growing its global presence.

Situated strategically in North Africa, this expansion highlights Alonso Group’s commitment to tapping into the growing trade relations between Morocco and Spain.

Alonso Forwarding Morocco swiftly commenced operations, offering a comprehensive range of logistics services, with a particular focus on maritime transport.

From handling full container loads to consolidation, the branch facilitates seamless cargo exchanges between Morocco, the Iberian Peninsula, and Europe.

Plans are already underway to inaugurate a second office in Tangiers, aligning seamlessly with Alonso Group’s broader international expansion strategy.

This strategic vision aims to establish regular connections between Europe and Morocco, solidifying Alonso Group’s foothold in North Africa.

As Alonso Group sets its sights on Morocco’s economic landscape, recent trade data underscores the country’s pivotal role in Spain’s fresh produce imports.

In January 2024 alone, Spain imported a staggering €134 million worth of fruits and vegetables from Morocco, marking a substantial 45% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

This surge in imports, totaling 57,534 tons, reflects a significant 31% year-on-year increase, highlighting Morocco’s consistent supply and quality offerings.

Morocco’s strategic position as Spain’s top non-EU supplier of fresh produce further solidifies its crucial role in meeting Spanish market demands, thereby enhancing bilateral trade relations between the two nations.

As trade relations between Spain and Morocco continue to flourish, Alonso Forwarding Morocco plays a pivotal role in facilitating seamless logistics operations, further cementing the bond between the two nations in the realm of international trade.
