UK – PML Seafrigo has announced the appointment of Mike Parr as the new CEO for its UK and Ireland operations, marking a significant shift in the company’s leadership structure.
This change follows Seafrigo’s recent acquisition of PML, a top player in the logistics and supply chain solutions sector for perishable goods.
Mike Parr, who previously served as managing director of PML, will now lead the combined operations of PML and Seafrigo in the UK and Ireland. His transition to CEO comes as part of a broader reorganisation within the company.
Ryan Parr, Mike’s son, has been promoted to operations director for the UK and Ireland. In this role, Ryan will oversee the logistics of temperature-sensitive goods across sea, land, and air.
Eric Barbé, Seafrigo Group CEO, expressed his confidence in Parr’s appointment, stating, “Mike’s extensive knowledge and expertise in the perishable goods market make him the ideal choice to drive PML Seafrigo’s growth and development. His reputation and experience will be invaluable as we continue to expand.”
Barbé highlighted Parr’s role not only as a business leader but also as a prominent spokesperson within the industry.
He noted, “Mike is a key figure in our sector, frequently sought for his insights into the challenges we face. Under his leadership, I am confident PML Seafrigo will play a crucial role in our global ambitions.”
In response to his new role, Mike Parr remarked, “I am excited to work with Mr. Barbé and lead PML Seafrigo into its next phase. Although I considered retirement after the acquisition, I found that I am still deeply engaged with the dynamics of this industry and eager to continue contributing.”
The acquisition of PML by Seafrigo was finalized on July 10, 2023. This move was part of Seafrigo’s strategy to enhance its global presence.
The PML network, which includes three UK locations and around 170 employees, were integrated into Seafrigo’s operations.
Consequently, PML’s facilities were rebranded under the Seafrigo name, aligning with the group’s broader growth strategy.
Additionally, Seafrigo is set to launch a new airfreight platform in September 2024. Located near the Marché International de Rungis SEMMARIS and Orly Airport, the 7,500 square meter facility will feature multi-temperature and multimodal capabilities.
This new platform, designed for optimal management of perishable products including seafood, fruits, and fine foods, will offer 2,600 pallet spaces and enhance Seafrigo’s logistical efficiency.
As Seafrigo embarks on this expansion, the appointment of Mike Parr and the development of the new airfreight platform signal a strong commitment to advancing their position in the global market.
