USA – Saffron Tech, a California-based agricultural technology company focused on innovating saffron production, recently launched a pilot site allowing the cultivation of saffron year-round.

“Thanks to this pilot site, saffron can now be grown with enhanced quality and efficiency. The success of this advancement is driven by our cutting-edge autonomous cultivation technology,” explained Eva Fattahi, PR representative at Saffron Tech.

Saffron, known for its culinary and medicinal uses, has faced challenges in cultivation due to its complex growing conditions.

The company aims to improve the saffron farming landscape with innovative technology that addresses these obstacles.

One critical obstacle in saffron production is the high labor requirement. Saffron Tech’s facility minimizes labor needs through in-house automation technology.

This scalable solution not only produces high-quality saffron but also improves operational efficiency and predictability. “Our goal is to make saffron production more manageable for farmers while maintaining exceptional quality,” Eva added.

In addition to saffron cultivation, Saffron Tech plans to enter the B2B market with saffron extraction services.

This extract retains the spice’s medicinal properties and is highly sought after for nutraceuticals, beauty, and wellness products.

“Our proprietary extraction method preserves the active medicinal properties of saffron, making it ideal for various applications. We prioritize top-notch quality and fair employment practices, setting us apart in the industry,” Eva noted.

Saffron Tech is gearing up to roll out commercial saffron farms. “This expansion will strengthen our position in the saffron industry and ensure a consistent supply of premium saffron for our B2B clients across different sectors,” Eva explained.

These new farms will utilize updated technology and growth protocols to meet the rising demand for saffron extracts.

Saffron Tech’s autonomous cultivation system is a key component of its expansion strategy. The system relies on proprietary software that integrates climate control, irrigation, fertilization, and lighting.

“Our software optimizes each stage of saffron cultivation, ensuring that we achieve the best possible yields,” Eva explained.

By managing all aspects of cultivation through an advanced monitoring and control system, Saffron Tech enhances the efficiency of saffron farming.

Looking ahead, Saffron Tech aims to launch its first full-scale commercial saffron farm with an annual target production of 4,000 pounds of premium saffron extract by 2025.

“We have set clear and ambitious goals to realize this vision,” Eva noted. The company also plans to establish key partnerships to improve its supply chain and tackle industry-wide challenges such as quality inconsistencies and supply inefficiencies.

The global saffron market was valued at approximately USD 602.2 million in 2023, with expectations of a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.1% from 2024 to 2030.

This growth is driven by the increasing demand for saffron in medical and cosmetic applications, as its antioxidant properties and health benefits gain popularity.

Saffron Tech is ready to seize this opportunity, positioning itself as a leader in the saffron industry.
