UK – Restrain, a leader in agricultural technology, has announced the appointment of Yotam Guetta as its new Head of Technology.

Yotam joins Restrain after a successful stint at Infarm, where he led important initiatives in sustainable agriculture.

Yotam has built an impressive career in AgriTech, bringing valuable experience from his roles at Infarm.

During his time as Head of Agronomy and later as Global Crops Operations Manager, he was pivotal in driving advancements in farming methods that focused on sustainability and efficiency.

His background is enhanced by a Master’s degree in Soil and Water Science, combined with a degree in Agricultural Science.

Benedikt Cramer, Managing Director of Restrain, expressed optimism about Yotam’s arrival. “We are excited to welcome Yotam to the team. His expertise in sustainable farming and technological advancements will be vital as we continue to grow.”

For the last two decades, Restrain has been a key player in potato storage technology. Its use of ethylene-based technology has allowed for better management of sprout growth and potato preservation.

The company’s technology can be easily implemented in both new and existing storage facilities without significant changes.

Following the European ban on CIPC, a commonly used sprout suppressant, Restrain became a go-to solution for many in the potato industry.

Its natural approach to sprout control has proven to be both cost-effective and reliable, reducing weight loss and maintaining quality.

In 2017, Restrain took a significant step by developing its own catalytic generators. These generators, when combined with advanced microcomputer technology, paved the way for remote control and monitoring of storage conditions.

This innovation was further enhanced in 2023 with the integration of cloud technology, allowing real-time monitoring and adjustments, making it easier for farmers to optimize their storage processes.

In his new role, Yotam will focus on expanding Restrain’s technology to new crops and improving existing applications for potatoes.

His plans include developing better methods for managing crop storage and enhancing the remote monitoring capabilities already in place.

“I am excited to join Restrain at such a critical time,” Yotam said. “The company has built an impressive foundation in sustainable solutions, and I look forward to driving future advancements.”
