GERMANY – MSC is set to showcase its latest innovations in refrigerated shipping at Fruit Logistica 2025, highlighting its vital role in ensuring the freshness and quality of fruits and vegetables as they move from farm to table.
Valued at USD 726.20 billion in 2024, the fresh produce market is projected to grow by 6.42% annually over the next five years, according to Statista.
At the event, MSC will highlight how its advanced solutions are shaping the future of global food logistics.
MSC stands out as a leader in refrigerated transport, operating a fleet capable of carrying nearly half a million reefers at any given time.
These energy-efficient containers are equipped with advanced technologies to preserve the quality of fresh produce, ensuring it arrives in optimal condition.
“Our solutions are crafted to ensure fruits and vegetables arrive in perfect condition, ready to meet the high standards of our customers,” stated an MSC spokesperson.
“We’ve integrated advanced technologies to maintain optimal temperature and humidity levels, ensuring that produce remains as fresh as the day it was harvested.”
Among MSC’s key offerings are chemical-free cold treatment processes to protect produce from pests and a range of Controlled Atmosphere (CA) technologies, including StarCool® CA, XtendFRESH®, Liventus®, Maxtend®, and Purfresh®.
These systems effectively extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, helping them endure long journeys without compromising quality.
In addition to its technological innovations, MSC continues to strengthen its global transport network. Recent improvements in Southern Africa include expanded connections to Walvis Bay and the establishment of a transshipment hub on the West Coast.
These developments, along with the upcoming standalone East-West network launching in February 2025, will streamline direct trade routes between Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
“We’re dedicated to improving our services and adapting to the dynamic needs of the fresh produce market,” said an MSC representative.
“By expanding our network, we’re making it easier for producers to access global markets while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”
