MEXICO – The National Berry Exporters Association (Aneberries) in Mexico is gearing up for substantial growth, aiming for a 12% to 15% expansion by 2025.
The association is actively exploring new opportunities in Asia and widening its reach through strategic promotional endeavors.
According to Juan José Flores, General Director of Aneberries, the association’s focus on enhancing exports to the EU market by aiming for a 2% increase while addressing previous logistical challenges that impacted fruit quality.
Efforts are underway to tackle labor, environmental safety, and sustainability concerns, aiming to secure relevant certifications.
Flores elaborates on the association’s initiatives, highlighting compliance with regulations, implementation of robust marketing strategies, and the establishment of new vice-presidencies within the association.
These new roles are expected to outline comprehensive roadmaps for promotion, marketing, and sector development.
Aneberries is actively collaborating with Mexican authorities to navigate market entry into South Korea, India, Vietnam, and Thailand, with changing requirements necessitating renewed approaches.
Moreover, visits from importers in these regions are fostering growth and knowledge exchange for Mexican berries.
The association’s participation in Fruit Attraction 2023 in Madrid, Spain, underscores the importance of international produce fairs in establishing a global presence for Mexican berries.
Flores emphasizes leveraging tastings at such events to showcase flavors and introduce new genetic varieties, particularly to the European market.
“While aiming for growth, we are mindful of competition from the EU and Morocco in these markets. Understanding our position in these regions is pivotal for designing effective promotional campaigns,” Flores affirms.
“Spotlighting the unique qualities of Mexican berries and their significance in our local production community.”

Projections indicate potential growth to USD 54,480 million by 2028, with a 4.1% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during 2022-2028.
