NETHERLANDS – Mark Hoogendoorn has officially joined Solynta as the Sales Lead, effective January 1, 2025, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to broaden its international commercial reach.
Hoogendoorn’s appointment comes as Solynta continues to introduce its innovative hybrid true potato seeds (HTPS) to markets worldwide.
Joost van Regteren, Chief Commercial Officer at Solynta, expressed confidence in Hoogendoorn’s ability to drive the company’s ambitious sales goals.
“In recent years, we’ve worked closely with potato growers and seed distributors to bring our true potato seeds to regions with high market potential. Mark’s extensive experience in the seed industry will help strengthen our global presence and foster new partnerships,” van Regteren stated.
Hoogendoorn brings a wealth of experience, having previously managed sales of seed technologies across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Incotec.
His new role at Solynta involves leading the sales and business development team to introduce true potato seeds to growers worldwide.
Speaking about the opportunity, Hoogendoorn said, “Solynta’s hybrid breeding technology offers an exciting alternative for potato farming. By replacing traditional seed tubers with true potato seeds, growers can cultivate potatoes more sustainably, achieving higher yields and reducing their reliance on chemical inputs. I’m excited to contribute to this transformative approach.”
Global Success with True Potato Seeds
Solynta’s innovative true potato seeds are making a significant impact on global agriculture. Unlike traditional seed tubers, these seeds are compact, disease-free, and capable of producing potatoes with greater resistance to diseases such as Late Blight.
This makes them particularly valuable in regions grappling with challenges like limited resources and food insecurity.
The company has already introduced its hybrid seeds in African countries such as Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Rwanda. Field trials in Kenya demonstrated the seeds’ exceptional resilience, boosting confidence among farmers and industry stakeholders.
Additionally, the seeds require less water and fewer chemicals, promoting more sustainable farming practices.
Farmers in these regions have lauded the shift from bulky, perishable tubers to lightweight, durable seeds. By reducing post-harvest losses and improving predictability in yields, Solynta is helping smallholder farmers secure better livelihoods while addressing global challenges like water scarcity and food shortages.
As Solynta continues its expansion, the appointment of Hoogendoorn stresses its commitment to innovation and global agricultural development.
With an experienced leader at the helm of its sales team, the Dutch-based company is well-positioned to strengthen its role as a leader in hybrid potato seed technology.
“We’re confident in Mark’s ability to help us achieve our goals and make a lasting impact in global agriculture,” van Regteren concluded.
