DENMARK – eeSea has launched TrueTransit, a port-to-port benchmarking tool for shippers in a major step toward improving visibility and reliability in container shipping.
The platform aims to provide shippers with accurate data on vessel transit performance to aid better decision-making across the supply chain.
Simon Sundboell, CEO and Founder of eeSea, emphasized the importance of such a solution in today’s dynamic shipping landscape.
“Increased volatility and uncertainty have underscored the need for greater transparency and reliable data. And not just averages, but granular and consolidated data down to port pair and vessel level. TrueTransit offers unbiased insights to shippers and logistics professionals, and we hope to help them to make better decisions based on facts, not assumptions,” he stated.
TrueTransit is designed to address three primary use cases, according to an official release. Firstly, it provides valuable insights during contract negotiations, enabling beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) and logistics service providers (LSPs) to benchmark carriers’ historical reliability.
The tool allows users to analyze carriers’ performance at a port-pair level, helping them select the most reliable options based on current and future network data.
Secondly, it assists origin shippers after purchase orders are issued by helping them identify the best carriers and vessels within a specific timeframe. This includes factoring in potential delays, blank sailings, and route omissions.
Finally, for shipments already in transit, TrueTransit enables importers to manage the downstream effects of delays. The tool provides more accurate and earlier estimated times of arrival (ETAs), allowing for better planning and reduced disruptions.
Ocean carriers can also benefit from TrueTransit by benchmarking their performance on trade lanes or port pairs, whether on their own operated vessels or partner services.
By entering origin and destination information, users gain access to detailed information about container vessel services operating on their route.
This includes departure and arrival times, comparisons of proforma transit times versus actual performance, average delays, and cancellation rates.
Unlike traditional tools, TrueTransit’s ETA is derived from objective and historical data rather than relying solely on carriers’ published schedules.
The company highlighted the solution’s ability to provide a level of transparency that hasn’t been widely available before.
According to eeSea, the platform combines multiple data sources, historical information, and machine learning technology to create actionable insights for the maritime industry.
