US – Brighter Bites, a leading national nonprofit dedicated to delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly to families, has secured the title of a National Strategic Partner of MyPlate.gov.
This collaboration signifies a pivotal move to reinforce the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate’s mission, encouraging healthier eating habits and choices.
MyPlate’s extensive network of strategic partners includes diverse entities such as food retailers, restaurant chains, media outlets, healthcare corporations, and food manufacturers, all united in the common goal of advancing nutritional awareness and well-being.
Rich Dachman, CEO of Brighter Bites, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are proud to be a partner of an organization that not only aligns with our mission but also reaches so many families and individuals nationwide with an approachable guide to healthy eating.”
“As we continue to grow our program and reach more families nationwide, we are honored to be surrounded by so many other companies with similar goals. What an exciting and impactful group to join!”
MyPlate’s nutritional philosophy centers on cultivating healthier eating patterns by encouraging consumers to reassess how they compose their plates.
Prioritizing whole, fresh foods, diversifying protein, and vegetable choices, and incorporating more low-fat or fat-free dairy products can significantly contribute to improving overall health.
Furthermore, MyPlate’s website serves as an invaluable resource, offering insights into the importance of food choices and providing practical information to facilitate informed decision-making for better health.
Dachman highlights the commitment to synergizing efforts: “We look forward to promoting MyPlate’s nutritional messaging alongside our content to continue showing people how beneficial it is to choose the food you consume wisely and purposefully to support a healthy lifestyle.”
Meanwhile in another stride towards nutrition enhancement, MyPlate National Strategic Partners, including the Grain Foods Foundation, Hass Avocado Board, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Foundation, and National Wheat Foundation, last month collaborated to launch the “Build a Better Sandwich” resource.
Recognizing that sandwiches are a staple for nearly half of all Americans, this initiative aims to address the gap between dietary recommendations and actual consumption.
The “Build a Better Sandwich” resource offers practical tips and inspiring ideas for constructing healthier sandwiches.
Emphasizing a balance of grains, lean proteins, fiber-filled fruits and vegetables, and low-fat dairy, the initiative encourages individuals to make more nutritious choices in their daily diets.
Erin Ball, Executive Director of the Grain Foods Foundation, emphasizes the importance of accessible, nutrient-rich options: “Consumers need convenient, affordable, nutrient-rich solutions for feeding themselves and their families. A better-built sandwich is not only delicious but also a logical vehicle for much-needed nutrients without excessive sodium and saturated fats.”
