Beva Fruits International, Lebanon Pack House sign exclusivity agreement for EU distribution

LEBANON – Beva Fruits International (BFI) and Lebanon Pack House (LPH-CMA CGM GROUP) have entered into an exclusivity agreement, making BFI the sole distributor of all Avocados and Table Grapes packed and shipped by LPH.

LPH, a cutting-edge packing facility located in the Bekka Valley, Lebanon, is part of CMA CGM Group, a leader in global maritime freight.

The partnership signifies a crucial step forward in the distribution of high-quality Lebanese produce in Europe and the UK.

According to Bruno Edery, CEO of BFI, “For us, it was essential to materialize this relationship which has been from day one a partnership of trust and mutual outlook on the future of Lebanese grapes and avocados.”

Lebanese grapes and avocados, though known for their quality, have historically not been as visible in international markets.

However, recent seasons have proven their growing appeal in the European market. As Edery notes, “The avocados and table grapes are at par with the traditional origins and both fall in crucial windows, November for grapes and February for Avocados.”

With this new distribution deal, Lebanese products are expected to gain stronger recognition. “Lebanese Avocados and Grapes will become in the years to come one to reckon with as volumes in grapes will reach 25,000 tons and 20,000 tons per annum in avocados by 2030,” shares Jimmy Harari, Head of Global Procurement at BFI.

He further adds, “With this tonnage, we will be able to service multiple EU and UK retailers and, in the packaging, they desire.”

Lebanon’s grape and avocado industries have seen substantial progress in recent years. In 2024, the country’s grape exports have been thriving, focusing on both quality and sustainability.

Lebanon produces about 130,000 tons of grapes annually, with around 20,000 to 30,000 tons exported. Europe, particularly the Netherlands, has become an important market for Lebanese grapes.

Innovative practices and a commitment to meeting European market standards have helped Lebanon secure a strong foothold.

Similarly, Lebanon’s avocado exports have also experienced rapid growth. Referred to as “green gold,” the avocado industry has reached new heights, with exports in 2024 amounting to approximately 9,000 tons, valued at USD 15 million.

The demand for Lebanese avocados in Europe is growing, as exports increased from just 40 tons in 2020 to 1,000 tons in 2023.

While Arab countries like Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq remain key importers, the European market’s interest in Lebanese avocados continues to rise.

This exclusivity agreement marks a milestone in the continued success of Lebanon’s agricultural exports and is expected to strengthen BFI’s position in the European market.

As both companies work together to meet growing demand, the future looks bright for Lebanese produce.
