Benin Cashew SA wins 2024 Agro-African Company of the Year Award at AABLA

BENIN – Benin Cashew SA, a major player in Benin’s cashew processing industry and a subsidiary of ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (IIP), earned significant recognition at the 2024 All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) held in Johannesburg.

Organized by CNBC Africa and Forbes Africa, the event celebrated industry leaders across the continent, and Benin Cashew SA distinguished itself by winning the Agro-African Company of the Year award. This marks the first time a Beninese company has achieved this honor.

This award spotlights Benin Cashew SA’s dedication to bolstering local industrialization in Benin, particularly within the cashew sector.

The company is renowned for its commitment to enhancing the value of locally sourced cashew nuts by transforming them into high-quality products for export.

With an extensive capacity of five units that can process up to 120,000 tons annually, Benin Cashew SA aims to increase Benin’s annual cashew kernel exports by approximately $170 million.

Deputy General Manager of Benin Cashew SA, Martial Degbelo, spoke on the achievement: “This award highlights the commitment of our team and the immense potential of Benin’s cashew sector. It is a proud moment for all Beninese, as it reflects our ability to convert raw materials into valuable products, contributing directly to both Benin’s and Africa’s growth.”

Benin Cashew SA operates under ARISE IIP, a pan-African developer and operator of industrial parks across the continent, specializing in industrial and commercial infrastructure that supports sustainable growth.

Currently present in 12 countries, ARISE IIP’s model revolves around converting local resources into export-ready products, generating substantial employment opportunities, and strengthening local economies.

ARISE IIP’s focus on sustainable development in Africa’s industrial sectors includes a strong emphasis on green growth initiatives.

With operations spanning countries such as Gabon, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria, ARISE IIP has contributed significantly to the development of Africa’s industrial economy.

The organization seeks to bridge gaps in value chains across key industries, bringing long-term benefits to communities by focusing on job creation, skill development, and environmental sustainability.

The award further cements Benin’s status as a key player in the global cashew industry. Benin is currently the third-largest cashew producer in the world, and companies like Benin Cashew SA are helping the country harness this potential by establishing a robust infrastructure for cashew processing.

“This award not only reflects the hard work of our team but is also a testament to Benin’s commitment to industrial growth,” Degbelo added.

“As we look ahead, we’re excited to see how this momentum will continue to support the economic advancement of both Benin and Africa as a whole.”
