ISRAEL – BeeHero, a leading agricultural pollination specialist, has unveiled the latest version of its Pollination Insight Platform (PIP), now upgraded to PIP 2.0.
This new iteration is designed to enhance pollination efficiency and boost crop yields by providing precise, real-time insights into pollinator activity.
PIP 2.0 introduces several advancements over its predecessor. It features improved pollinator identification, a refined sensor design, and enhanced monitoring capabilities.
One of the standout additions is the advanced heat map technology, which offers a detailed, real-time view of bee activity in the field.
According to BeeHero, this technology allows growers to receive “invaluable” insights into their pollination processes, replacing outdated, manual data collection methods.
“Approximately 75% of major food crops rely on pollinators, with bees being the most crucial,” said Omer Davidi, CEO and co-founder of BeeHero. He added, “Effective and efficient pollination is essential for sustainable agriculture and future food security.”
PIP 2.0 enables growers to monitor bee activity closely, including identifying optimal foraging times and evaluating the relationship between hive numbers and crop performance.
This helps in predicting yield and improving pollination success, especially for cross-pollinated crops such as almonds, blueberries, and raspberries. Additionally, the platform can track various pollinators like leaf-cutter bees, hover flies, and bumblebees.
With its high-resolution heat map technology, PIP 2.0 provides growers with detailed information on bee visits to male and female flowers, which can significantly enhance pollination strategies.
The platform also supports a wide range of crops, including onions, carrots, watermelons, and apples, expanding its application beyond traditional fruit crops.
“By advancing our sensor technology and real-time data analytics, we empower growers to optimize their operations, reduce labor costs, and improve both sustainability and profitability,” Davidi noted.
The platform’s deployment spans across multiple countries, including the US, Israel, France, the Netherlands, Australia, and South Africa.
