INDIA – Avocados Australia Limited has declared its entry into the Indian market, accompanied by cricket icon Brett Lee as their brand ambassador.
The announcement took place at Avocados Australia’s Launch Trade Reception held at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, India.
The collaboration between Avocados Australia and the Indian market signifies a significant milestone for both parties. With Brett Lee as a brand ambassador, the launch aims to introduce a premium and healthy option to Indian households, encouraging the inclusion of avocados in everyday meals and snacks.
Avocado consumption has been on the rise in India, paralleling a global surge in demand over the past decade. The Australian avocado industry is experiencing rapid growth, with production forecasted to increase to approximately 170,000 tons by 2026, up from over 115,385 tons in 2022-23.
Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to India, Nick McCaffrey, highlighted the promising partnership between the two nations during the launch event. He emphasized the growing bilateral ties and the potential for further collaboration in the agricultural sector.
John Tyas, CEO of Avocados Australia, emphasized the significance of the Indian market and outlined the strategy to enhance the visibility of Australian avocados in India. Tyas expressed confidence in establishing a robust presence by focusing on quality, service, availability throughout the year, and market support.
While acknowledging the great opportunity that the Indian market presents, Tyas also recognized the need to learn more about this market and the effort required to develop it over the coming years.
The launch of Australian avocados in India marks a significant step in the industry’s global expansion journey, tapping into the growing demand for healthy and premium produce in the Indian market.
Meanwhile in a parallel development, Westfalia Fruit celebrated a milestone with the arrival of the first sea-freighted shipment of Kenyan avocados to India. This move is part of Westfalia Fruit’s strategic expansion plan in the Indian market.
Zac Bard, Westfalia’s business development executive, expressed pride in bringing the inaugural sea shipment of Kenyan avocados to India, highlighting the company’s longstanding relationship with the largest Kenyan avocado grower and exporter.
Westfalia Fruit India has solidified its position as a leader in the avocado market by consistently importing and distributing avocados from various regions.
The company has also introduced Australian avocados to the local market earlier this year, further diversifying its offerings.
