AIPH approves 17th International Flora Expo in India

INDIA – The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has officially granted approval for the 17th International Flora Expo 2024, set to take place in Mumbai from 25 to 27 October.

This international horticultural exhibition, to be held at the NESCO Exhibition Center, will serve as a hub for showcasing innovations in floral design, greenhouse technology, and urban farming.

It will bring together professionals from floristry, landscaping, seed production, and irrigation, offering an opportunity for business growth and international collaboration.

The Expo will not only highlight the latest developments in the horticultural world but also underscore India’s vital role in this growing sector.

As an AIPH-approved event, the Expo holds global significance and is expected to attract key players from around the world. According to the organizers, the event will feature groundbreaking displays of pot plants, greenhouse advancements, and eco-friendly landscaping solutions.

AIPH representatives Jack Goossens, Chair of the Ornamentals Production Committee, and Treve Evans, Senior International Relations Manager, will be present at the event to further strengthen ties with India’s horticultural sector.

“We see this as an important step in fostering the exchange of knowledge and technology,” said Goossens. “India’s floriculture industry is thriving, and this Expo will help it reach new heights.”

The Grower’s Flower Council of India (GFCI) has taken a firm stand in advocating for sustainable practices within the country’s floral industry.

Their efforts to eliminate the import and use of plastic and artificial flowers have been lauded by AIPH. GFCI’s push for eco-friendly, locally grown flowers aims to reduce environmental impact while supporting local growers.

“The GFCI’s work in promoting sustainability is commendable,” said Treve Evans. “Their focus on reducing plastic waste aligns perfectly with global efforts to combat climate change. By encouraging the use of real flowers over synthetic alternatives, they’re helping create a greener future.”

As part of the Expo’s agenda, the Global Conference on “Plants, Places & People” will take place on 26 October 2024. The conference will gather international experts to discuss the role of plants in urban environments.

Topics will include the impact of green spaces on mental well-being, the importance of sustainable urban farming, and how plants contribute to a healthier society.

This conference is expected to spark innovative ideas and collaborations, encouraging the creation of more green spaces in cities worldwide.

With India being at the forefront of these discussions, the event will highlight the country’s contributions to global horticulture.

To boost public engagement with the Expo, GFCI has enlisted Bollywood stars as ambassadors for the event. These celebrities will actively promote the cultural and aesthetic importance of fresh flowers in Indian society.

Their participation is expected to attract widespread public attention, raising awareness of the benefits of using natural flowers over artificial alternatives.

The 17th International Flora Expo 2024 promises to be a milestone event in the global horticultural calendar, offering fresh opportunities for businesses, innovators, and eco-conscious individuals alike.
